PRESENT SIMPLE


Ø     We use the present simple to talk about things that happen repeatedly _ for example, every day, usually, often or sometimes.
      Margarita swims every week.
         Laura often plays the clarinet.
         We usually study in the library.
         I never drink coffee.



Ø     We also use the present simple to talk about facts that are generally true.

For example: The Earth goes round the sun.

¨     After he, she and it , verbs ends in -s or -es.

He, Pepe, my  brother, ...
She, Elena, my mum, ...      +  VERB+ -S
It, La Vila, that book, ....

Pepe reads the newspaper every morning.
Anna often sings.
Lola usually draws.



Spelling Rules

·        After -s, -x, -sh, or  -ch  we add  -es

    Pass ® passes

    Wash ® washes

    Watch ®watches



·       If the verb ends in CONSONANT + -Y,  we change -Y for -i plus -es

     Study®studies                    carry  ® carries

    If the verb ends in VOWEL+ -Y, we add -S

     Enjoy ® enjoys

     Stay ® stays

     Buy ® buys
